The starting point · Where we came in

The NFL's digital business isn't one product. It's a stack, and it never stops.

Fantasy, the flagship mobile app, live video, a film-study platform for the most serious fans, the analytics and stats engine behind the broadcast - the NFL runs a whole ecosystem of products, each with its own audience and its own game-day pressure.

Slytrunk became a partner across that stack. On some products we own everything end to end; on others we joined the core team or embedded engineers where the work was. The common thread is one team that treats each product like it matters, because to the fans, each one does.

NFL Fantasy

The part everyone skips

The easy way to work with the NFL is to be a vendor for one thing. Ship it, invoice it, move on.

That never builds the trust to be handed the next thing, or the one after that. A stack this big needs a partner who can focus on delivering for the fan and also slot into someone else's team without friction.

So we did both. The range below - from running Fantasy top to bottom to embedding with NextGen Stats - is the argument: one team the NFL can point at almost anything.

The idea we brought

Own what needs owning. Embed where it helps. Be one team either way.

Across five products we flex the engagement to fit the work: full build-and-run where the NFL needs an owner, a seat on the core team where they need hands, an embedded resource where they need depth. Same people, same bar, whatever the shape.

NFL Mobile

What we build

Five products across the NFL.

01 · Fantasy Football

Built and run the entire fantasy platform

Every client - the React Native apps, the fan website, the admin tools - and the entire backend: feed parsing, business logic, data, and the API platform. We ran it day to day and supported the NFL's marketing and customer-service teams. Fantasy+ and Adaptive Draft Rank were ours end to end.

02 · NFL Mobile

On the core team for the NFL+ app

Part of the front-end / React Native team building the NFL's primary consumer app - team pages, the NFL+ Watch experience with RedZone and live games, and live scores and standings.

03 · Video Player

Live and on-demand video player

Front-end video player development and operations for the NFL's streaming experience - NFL+, RedZone, and GameDay across phone, tablet, and the big screen.

04 · NFL Pro

Partnered with NFL Dev Team to build and run the web experience

The web client and admin tools for NFL Pro, including Film Room - the play-study tool that lets the most serious fans filter every play in the season and watch it from the sideline or the end zone. We run it day to day and support the NFL's teams around it.

05 · NextGen Stats

Embedded with the NextGen Stats development team

Platform engineers embedded with the NFL's NextGen Stats team, plus an AI assistant - powered by AWS - that turns the league's tracking data into the weekly insights fans read.

The range

The same team, at whatever depth the product needs.

01 · Own it

Build and run it outright.

Fantasy was ours end to end - every client, the backend, the admin tools, and the day-to-day operation.

02 · Join the team

Take a seat on the core team.

On NFL Mobile and live video player, our engineers build alongside the NFL's own, shipping the app and the streaming experience together.

03 · Embed

Drop in where the depth is needed.

With NextGen Stats we embed platform engineers directly to build the AWS-powered AI behind the weekly insights among other advancements.

The result

One partner, across the stack.

1

Own it, join it, or embed - same people

One partner, not five vendors

The NFL didn't assemble five vendors. It grew one partner.

Each product started as its own engagement. What connects them is that the same team kept earning the next one - owning Fantasy taught us how the NFL works, and that made us useful on the NFL Mobile app, the video player, NFL Pro, NextGen Stats and the data behind them.

That's the whole argument. One team the league can hand almost anything, and trust it to ship.
